Hello actors and filmmakers,
Many of you may know me as a film publicist for my company Skylar Entertainment that I ran for 14 years. I achieved my dream of working in the film industry and being surrounded by creative actors and filmmakers like you.
My first film publicity gig was a documentary premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2008. My second gig was working with an actress that was in a film with major celebrity talent. Off to L.A. I went to be thrown into figuring out how to work a Hollywood red carpet. Both experiences were “go big or go home” introductions to film publicity.
I have since represented actors and films at other top events including Hot Docs, Reel World, Italian Contemporary, Canadian Cinema Editors Awards, and for three years I was the director of public relations for the Female Eye Film Festival.
I’ve been honored to participate as a panelist and industry expert for conferences and media outlets including the Northern Ontario Music & Film Conference (film publicity), Reel Indie Film Festival (film publicity), Straight Talk on Sun News Network (PR crisis management for celebrities) and CanWest News (image & branding coach).
