Diane's Creative Entrepreneur Journey
Diane’s ability to work in various creative fields can be traced to her schooling and initial work experience. She graduated from the Professional Photography program at Langara College and the Makeup Artistry program at Blanche MacDonald Institute, both in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. She freelanced as a photographer and makeup artist for the next few years with actors, musicians/bands and fashion models as her subjects.
Relocating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1996, she worked as a make-up artist at MAC Cosmetics for eight years, in addition to freelancing for countless fashion shows and photography/video shoots. Looking to find her place in the music industry, Diane secured a journalism diploma and began writing about music for an online magazine. In 2003, she enrolled in the Entertainment Management program at Trebas Institute and started her own company, Skylar Entertainment, upon graduation.
With her fashion and beauty background, Diane was able to offer expertise on image and branding in her role as an entertainment publicist. Ahead of the curve, she also embraced the burgeoning digital era, incorporating social media and blogs into her pr campaigns. Although Diane began as a music publicist, it wasn’t long before she was recruited by the film and television industry and various other arts and entertainment pr projects.
